Curated by Khumo Sebambo, We, the Purple is an immersive exploration of Pretoria, known as the “Jacaranda City”, using the evocative hue of purple to weave together the city’s role in protest movements such as #FeesMustFall and the historic “purple rain protest” of 1989. The exhibition design brought this powerful narrative to life through thoughtfully choreographed spatial arrangements, complemented by a custom exhibition logo that incorporates the jacaranda flower. Branded merchandise and a visitor brochure extended the exhibition’s visual language beyond the gallery walls, ensuring a cohesive and immersive experience.
